Best restaurant in Nelspruit for sure! It must become a national treasure.Phalaborwa people loves Hennies.
Extremely poor (and slow) service. Charging a 10% service fee on top of that is an utter cheek. This is probably why the waiters do not seem concerned about providing good service, as they receive their 10% regardless. Took over 30 minutes just to get the first round of drinks to the table. We had to call a manager to ask if he can take our order. He was reluctant and instead send another waiter to our table. Very disappointing.
Hennies Nelspruit is not to standard with the Hennies brand, food was bland and cold and not on par with other branches. The waiter that served us appeared to be the only one who was actually looking after multiple tables, while the other waiters were only standing around and chatting to each other. The lady behind the bar had no regard for the customers, because she moved a very large fan straight towards us and it blew our serviettes off the table, into our faces and food and kept blowing on us even when we asked for it to be moved . This was a very dissapointing visit to such a popular brand.The sign at the smoking /bar area states that no under 18’s are allowed, however, there were a lot of children running around.We unfortunately will not be back again.
Been to hennies many times and it is always a great atmosphere. Problem is the service. Waiters are slow (not all of them but most). Takes very long to be served and then even longer to get what you ordered. Waiters do not pay attention to the orders, bring half orders or wrong orders. It was not like that when Hennie’s 1st opened. Not sure if the problem is with the kitchen and the bar getting orders out to slow. I think to wait 25 to 30min between drink orders is way to long. Waiters do not come and check if you need anything. You have to get up and go look for them and the whistling thing does not work. Management needs to take the time to invest in proper waiters and training.
1st time at a Hennies and this was a lekker place to laugh eat and enjoy the view 😉 the ladies that look after us was so much fun . The food was delicious 😋 I will say less ham more cheese in the Hennies balls 😋

The food and atmosphere and service is great, I just really wish they would put more into the play area. Nelspruit is very deficient in good play areas, especially for children 3 and under. I was really hoping for an alternative to spur (love but also so tired of spur spur spur…), but our boys 5 and 3 get bored quickly, and younger kids can only play a bit on the jumping castle. And the supervision doesn’t seem to even like kids. They just sit around looking bored. This is my opinion after a few visits, and really hoping they upgrade the experience with time. Also, really need to place a bridge on the walk area that always has dirty water running down from the kitchen.

Was there on rugby day. Phoned earlier in week to make booking. Response was no bookings for the day. Get there, fist question: “Did you make a booking?” Luckily we were early so they did accommodate us. Food was good as always. Beer was cold as always. Will go again. Very nice setup, inside and outside.
Hennie’s is a great family restaurant/sports pub. The atmosphere is laid-back and informal. The food is well-priced and portion sizes are generous. The restaurant has ample seating indoors and outdoors. There are several big screens for sports viewing customers. We have visited Hennie’s on several occations this past year, and have found consistently good service, yummy food and a nice vibe. Don’t visit Hennie’s if you’re looking for a quiet meal out. There’s always music on and patrons converse rather loudly at times. Hennie’s also has some “rules” which makes the experience more fun than usual.They also have neat, clean restrooms in the restaurants.
Worst experience ever, drove from Lydenburg specifically to go there. The drinks orders took forever, had three cold drinks in 3 hours and not because I drank it slowly. Party of 14 ordered food at the same time, after more than an hour first food arrived, and when thay were finished and waited for a doggy bag, our food was still nowhere to be seen, another 40min later when I wanted to cancel, it arrived, cold meat, scorching hot chips, meat was at least tasty. The bill was also a mess, took forever to get it, food of 4 people weren’t ringed up and the waiter asked us what we had, my bill was overcharged and the staff wasn’t really pleasant on fixing it and the waiter didn’t care about anything. Definitely not a Hennie’s standard experience.
DO NOT EAT THE SCRAMBLED EGGS. They do not look like eggs or taste like eggs. Two scrambled eggs looks like half an egg. The bacon was the only thing that was good on the plate. The Cappuccino was cold. The waiter was nice.

This place is great! A while ago we stopped in for just a couple of beers and wine, and they didn’t pressure us to order food like most places do. We enjoyed our drinks in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Hennies Mbombela. The standards are similar to the Hennies in Mossel Bay. The only exception was the pap! It has some water in it, which made it very soggy and difficult to eat. Otherwise, everything else was great! We loved the service from Jayden, friendly atmosphere and the welcome we received.Meals we had:1. Garlic & Feta Focaccia2. Beef Burger & Fries3. Pap, Sheba & Eisben
Stay for a drink but no more.I understand that the goal here is to drink and have a good time (and the drinks menu is vast and well priced) but I am someone who values my money and my food as much as a good time. I have never left half a pizza over and not taken it home until today. The base was clearly a premade one and somehow it took an hour and was very dry. I added extra toppings and I fear that if I hadn’t I would have tasted nothing at all. I added all the home brand spices and sauces and they are all sweet and bland. I asked for olives and had actual olive pips flying solo on my pizza.On the plus side, the staff is lovely and the “culture” of the franchise is entertaining.If the universe ever steers me towards Hennie’s ever again I will have a nice drink, enjoy the view and go home.

All though I am not a drinker but my husband and kids don drink. I still did not feel left behind. Just felt a little cold. But except for that, the waitress was so friendly and always on the lookout if all were still fine at our table. Nelspruit Hennies not on par with other Hennies across SAWaiter was friendly and tried her best but60 minutes after we ordered 6 meals, 1 arrived, 15 minutes later an almost well done steak arrived (was ordered medium rare), 15 minutes later we were informed that they haven’t even started with the 3 x pizzas we ordered, but the schnitzel is on its way, we canceled the pizzas but decided to wait for the schnitzel, another 30min later we asked for the bill, another 20min later we received the bill and was asked it we want the schnitzel as a takeaway, no thanks.Really disappointed in Nelspruit Hennies, won’t be seeing us again anytime soon.

A feel good place with roaring spirit. Awesome atmosphere and relaxing vibe along with great service and spot-hitting meals. I recommend the Rottweiler pizza!

Hennie’s is our family’s new “go-to” for many reasons. The most important of these though is that I am married to a complete germophobe and the world’s fussiest eater! Eating out is more often than not a stressful exercise for us because hubby would always be the one who finds a hair in his food, get the cold steak or get a garnished plate when he specifically asked for no greens. We attended the Hennie’s opening and low and behold! Hubster gets the perfect steak, hottest plate and not a green thing in site. Excited about our first experience we return with high hopes. It was a weeknight but the place was packed. You could sense that the waiters and kitchen was under pressure. I was panicked! I’ve known one of the owners for many years and wanted to support him but if the food is a disaster while they’re really busy, I might have to make excuses as to why we don’t go there anymore. But to our surprise we again had the same experience. We waited a bit for the food as can be expected when a place a busy, but every bite was worth the wait and the waiter got hubby’s intricate requests exactly right, again! So I guess that’s it for us now. We have a new place to go and I can eat at peace knowing everyone at the table, regardless their antics, are satisfied with the food! This also counts for the service, atmosphere and overall experience. Woof!

Awful experience! The restaurant was full but the hostess took our name for the waiting list. She offered us the option to wait in the que or to phone us if we wanted to go look around at the nursery. 45mins later we received no call. When was asked her and the manager they told us it’s not their policy to call, yet they offered the option.The atmosphere was loud. The manager and hostess were both rude and obnoxious and couldn’t be bothered to try and seat us. They clearly didn’t need our business as they were happy for us to walk away to another restaurant! If that’s the Hennie attitude we’ll then keep it. Thankfully there are many other great restaurants in town who are welcoming and have good service.We ended up at Friends next door and what a pleasure.

We made our way to Hannies for my Mates 37 birthday. Hlezipi had us covered. She had us covered in terms of drinks during the humid Lowveld autumn weather. Despite having to wait for our food longer than expected, Management did explain the problem, which was understandable.. we appreciate that they reached out beforehand and explained upfront. All and all, we had a good experience and will definitely visit again.. Ps the kids play area is also good.
About 3 managers greeting me at the door, but then no one showing me a table. I manage to get a table, then i had to wave and look for a waiter. After that, i was busy watching the bulls game, and they clean in front of me, and the waiter have a chat. In front of the tv. Like come on. Not the best service i have received from a hennies. Food was good. Music too loud.
Tables were open without reservation notices, but the waitress refused we sit outside – insisted we wait at the cash bar till later. Did not feel welcomed at all. Needless to say, we left disappointed.

Further drink order not coming at all. Cold pizza when the pizza oven is under 10m away. Shocking incompetence.While this branch is still new and they are busy, and given the service on ground level appears to be better managed, I would avoid sitting in their upstairs smoking section until service is improved.

I have never been to any Hennie’s, so I didn’t know what to expect.I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.The food was excellent from the Eisbein, onion rings, pizzas, and fries. Best Halloumi I have ever had. The Onion Rings was crispy and sweet and salty at the same time, I actually couldn’t stop eating it.The cocktails were delicious. The service was fast, and the waiters, patient and professional, a big thanks to Tammy, who took care of our table.
Great atmosphere but the food dissapointing. I ordered Chicken Shnitzel and onion rings. The chicken was tasteless and the mushroom sauce had too much flour or thickening agent in it and the sauce was served on top of chicken. The sauce didn’t taste like much and spoiled the dish.The onion rings was soggy and not brown or crispy.Suggestion to rather serve sauce in a small bowl seperately so that customer can pour it over as desired. The onion rings need to be crispy.Management and staff were friendly. It was the restaurant opening day so I’m sure they will improve.

But to our surprise we again had the same experience. We waited a bit for the food as can be expected when a place a busy, but every bite was worth the wait and the waiter got hubby’s intricate requests exactly right, again! So I guess that’s it for us now. We have a new place to go and I can eat at peace knowing everyone at the table, regardless their antics, are satisfied with the food! This also counts for the service, atmosphere and overall experience. Woof!
Our waiter Sheppard was excellent host. Food and atmosphere was amazing. As out of towners we felt at home. Keep it up.
Awful experience! The restaurant was full but the hostess took our name for the waiting list. She offered us the option to wait in the que or to phone us if we wanted to go look around at the nursery. 45mins later we received no call. When was asked her and the manager they told us it’s not their policy to call, yet they offered the option.The atmosphere was loud. The manager and hostess were both rude and obnoxious and couldn’t be bothered to try and seat us. They clearly didn’t need our business as they were happy for us to walk away to another restaurant! If that’s the Hennie attitude we’ll then keep it. Thankfully there are many other great restaurants in town who are welcoming and have good service.We ended up at Friends next door and what a pleasure.

We made our way to Hannies for my Mates 37 birthday. Hlezipi had us covered. She had us covered in terms of drinks during the humid Lowveld autumn weather. Despite having to wait for our food longer than expected, Management did explain the problem, which was understandable.. we appreciate that they reached out beforehand and explained upfront. All and all, we had a good experience and will definitely visit again.. Ps the kids play area is also good.
About 3 managers greeting me at the door, but then no one showing me a table. I manage to get a table, then i had to wave and look for a waiter. After that, i was busy watching the bulls game, and they clean in front of me, and the waiter have a chat. In front of the tv. Like come on. Not the best service i have received from a hennies. Food was good. Music too loud.
Tables were open without reservation notices, but the waitress refused we sit outside – insisted we wait at the cash bar till later. Did not feel welcomed at all. Needless to say, we left disappointed.
Our first visit to Hennies Nelspruit began with good first impression – And then the problems started.25 minutes waiting for drinks with no service. Errors with the drinks order when it finally came. Further drink order not coming at all. Cold pizza when the pizza oven is under 10m away. Shocking incompetence.While this branch is still new and they are busy, and given the service on ground level appears to be better managed, I would avoid sitting in their upstairs smoking section until service is improved.

I have never been to any Hennie’s, so I didn’t know what to expect.I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.The food was excellent from the Eisbein, onion rings, pizzas, and fries. Best Halloumi I have ever had. The Onion Rings was crispy and sweet and salty at the same time, I actually couldn’t stop eating it.The cocktails were delicious. The service was fast, and the waiters, patient and professional, a big thanks to Tammy, who took care of our table.
Great atmosphere but the food dissapointing. I ordered Chicken Shnitzel and onion rings. The chicken was tasteless and the mushroom sauce had too much flour or thickening agent in it and the sauce was served on top of chicken. The sauce didn’t taste like much and spoiled the dish.The onion rings was soggy and not brown or crispy.Suggestion to rather serve sauce in a small bowl seperately so that customer can pour it over as desired. The onion rings need to be crispy.Management and staff were friendly. It was the restaurant opening day so I’m sure they will improve.
